Myolie Wu and Bosco Wong were hurriedly buying flowers from Sai Kung market last night because they had been so busy filming for “My Sassy Mother-in-law” that they only had time yesterday on New Year’s Eve to go and buy some new year flowers.
TVB’s heavily promoted young male Ron Ng takes some time out each year to spend the Lunar New Year with his family as well as choosing some plum blossom to decorate his home, to signify popularity and for everything to run smoothly. He says: “Every year I am responsible for buying the plum blossom and this year is no exception. (Your plum blossom must be very fruitful?) Aiya, it does not just represent romance, it can also signify popularity with viewers and other people. For me, I buy it because I want to get along with other poeple and it is definitely not about romance, so I don’t feel that it is very fruitful.”
To welcome in the Chinese New Year, cast members from TVB’s “Wong Fei Hung - Master of Kung Fu”, including Bosco Wong, Rain Li, Cerina Da Graca, Angela Tong and Helena Law gathered for a promotional lion dancing event on the streets of Tsimshatsui yesterday and handed out greetings posters as well as paraded with the lion heads in a lively event.
TVB’s managed artistes gathered together two nights ago for their end of year dinner and among the fifty people taking part were Roger Kwok, Jessica Hsuan, Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam, Frankie Lam, Moses Chan, Winnie Yeung, Michelle Ye, Tavia Yeung, Shirley Yeung, Bernice Liu, Linda Chung and Melissa Ng. Many TVB executives also took part, including Leung Nai Pang, Ho Ding Kwan, Stephen Chan Chi Wan, Lok Yee Ling and Catherine Tsang. Although Bowie has not yet signed officially with TVB, the deal has been 90% struck, so he was present and Myolie Wu, Bosco Wong, Gigi Lai and Anne Heung were in the midst of filming, so they appeared in their costumes.
Myolie and Bosco even had to leave before the food was served, so the restaurant prepared some noodles for them to eat beforehand. Before the meal, the artistes were split into three teams for a greetings design contest, judged by Mr Chan and Ms Lok. The contest was won by Bowie and Shirley’s team, who wrote: “Year of the Chicken brings lots of money, highest ratings and the best development.” Of course, the judges were attracted by the words “highest ratings”!
Bosco Wong’s series “Wong Fei Hung - Master of Kung Fu” has had fairly good ratings since it began airing, averaging at 30 points, but when Bosco was spotted in TVB City yesterday, he did not seem too pleased: “I though that it would keep improving and reach 31 points at least! It doesn’t matter though, I hope that the final week will achieve 33 points, if so, I will hand out lucky packets to everyone so we are all happy!” He says that two weeks ago, he saw Law Ka Ying visiting Liza Wang on the set of “My Sassy Mother-in-Law” and although he is very ill, Bosco says that he looks in good spirits and should be better soon.
